Finance Team Leader

The ideal candidate will lead AR and AP activities, including finance reporting.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Preparation and timely submission of financial statements, forecasts, budgets and key performance measurement reports. 
  • Responsibility for month end closing activities, setting cut off dates and ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Perform month-to-month analytical review of profit and loss and balance sheet items. 
  • Analyse actual financial results against forecast and budgets. 
  • Generate received but not invoiced report out of the system on a weekly basis and follow up to ensure they are invoiced as soon as possible by the sales team. 
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations and ensure no long outstanding items.
  • Ensure compliance with Netherlands Financial Reporting Standards and internal control procedures within the Finance Department.
  • Review and approve receipt, journal, and payment vouchers. 
  • Prepare monthly cash flow statements and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Provide information to external authorities for month end reporting, annual VAT return and statutory annual financial report. 
  • Periodic review of detailed accounts receivable and accounts payable, aging reports with respective Team Leads
  • Review detailed accounts payable aging report (fortnightly) to identify long outstanding entries and have them resolved by the Accounting Assistant   
  • Generate "shipped not invoiced" report on a weekly basis and follow up with stakeholders to ensure they are invoiced as soon as possible. 
  • Prepare monthly reporting pack for submission to head office and assist in accounting matter including performing variance analysis and providing commentary on performance and monitoring of KPIs for the Rotterdam office.
  • Manage the process for advance payments and petty cash management including updating the manual record of cash collected from vessels. 
  • General Finance - prepare and submit weekly KPI report for Management. 
  • Support stock counts with administration processing and count variance reporting. 
  • Approver for customer and supplier registration in ERP 
  • Comply with internal controls procedures and processes in line with Company policies 
  • Ensure that all activities assigned to this role are carried out in accordance with the Company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) and ethics and compliance policies.
  • Perform any other duties or projects as requested by your Line Manager.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Minimum Diploma level in Finance/Accounting related field or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant supervision/management experience 
  • Highly organised and structured individual with keen attention to detail
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, coupled with demonstrated ability to work to tight and conflicting deadlines 
  • Extensive experience with MS office packages 
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work in a diverse and multicultural environment
